Ecoten, a manufacturer of compression hosiery and orthopedic products, was awarded the Made in Russia certificate. Company’s 12,000-square-meters production facility and warehouse is located in St. Petersburg. The company manufactures over 2 million items annually and is planning to expand export activities to the Middle East and Africa, including under the Made in Russia national brand, with the support from Russian Export Center (REC, VEB Group).
Ecoten was founded in 2009. Its core business includes medical compression hosiery, bandages, corsets, orthoses, orthopedic footwear, and insoles. Company's products are used for rehabilitation after injuries and surgeries, for oncological treatments, and for the prevention and treatment of venous pathologies.
All products undergo three-stage quality control, have registration certificates, and comply with national standards. As part of the import substitution program, the company developed and patented SRM 5, the first compression measuring device in Russia.
In 2021, Ecoten began expanding into foreign markets, primarily the CIS countries, namely Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Support from Russian Export Center and participation in KIHE-2025, which resulted in an export contract, helped strengthen its position in the Kazakh market.
"Our priorities for the coming years include expanding export to the Middle East and Africa, participating in international exhibitions and business missions, and promoting products under the Made in Russia brand. We plan to expand our export-oriented product line," Alexander Osipov, CEO, Ecoten.
The company actively uses My Export platform to participate in exhibitions and explore the specifics and barriers of foreign markets. Obtaining the Made in Russia certificate helps build trust in the brand, increases brand awareness, and fosters positive product perception.
"We are confident in the quality of our products and believe in their export potential. Government support through REC plays a vital role in expanding our capabilities. We are proud that our products now bear the Made in Russia mark," emphasizes Alexander Osipov.
On the sidelines of the Made in Russia Forum, which took place on October 21, Ecoten met with its Ethiopian partner, Qeteran Manufacturing Medical Equipment Trading PLC. Following the joint production agreement in the Kilinto Special Economic Zone in Addis Ababa, Mr. Teshome, a representative of Qeteran Manufacturing Medical Equipment Trading PLC, visited Ecoten's medical compression hosiery and orthopedic products manufacturing facility in St. Petersburg.
The Made in Russia program, coordinated by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of the International Cooperation and Export national project, with Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF) responsible for its implementation, offers free and voluntary certification for manufacturers of non-commodity goods and services. Certificate can be obtained based on five criteria, namely quality, reliability, uniqueness, environmental friendliness, and organic origin. To obtain a certificate, a company and its products or services are not subject to additional checks by REC. Certification only requires an application on the Russian Export Center website, electronic documents, and signing of the automatically generated form.
