In the Kirov region, Nanolek Biomedical Complex has launched a full production cycle for the first domestic quadrivalent vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV), Cegardex, from antigen production to the finished dosage form.
The official launch of the first production line for the HPV vaccine took place on October 29, 2025. The first batches of the drug will be released for commercial use in the second half of 2026.
Cegardex protects against the four most common and dangerous HPV 6, 11, 16, and 18. These types are associated with the development of cervical cancer, anal cancer, and skin growths called papillomas.
Multicenter clinical trials were conducted at leading medical institutions, namely Kirov State Medical University, Eco-Safety Research Center (St. Petersburg), E. A. Wagner Perm State Medical University, and Medical Unit No. 163 of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia.
In March 2025, Cegardex was authorized for use in adults. Clinical trials in children have been completed, involving 402 volunteers aged 9 to 17 years. The indications for this age group are expected to be expanded in February 2026.
The vaccine was awarded the Made in Russia certificate in the reliability category. This document confirms that product development and production meet high standards and allows for the vaccine to be exported under the national brand developed by Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF). The program is coordinated by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
