The Eastern Economic Forum discussed how the Made in Russia program and regional brands are strengthening the country's economy and position abroad

The role of domestic manufacturers in developing the national economy and strengthening Russia's position in international markets was discussed on September 6 at the Eastern Economic Forum during the Russia's Regional Mosaic: How Local Brands Are Shaping the Country's Future session. Denis Drobot, Head of Russian Export Center (REC, VEB Group) Representative Office in Vladivostok, spoke at the event. Participants discussed how local production impacts the economy, fosters sustainable communities, and renews interest in entrepreneurship and creativity, laying the foundation for the country's future. Dmitry Mamaev, First Deputy Head of Rosmolodezh.Entrepreneurship, moderated the discussion.

The discussion participants noted that today, Russian entrepreneurs and manufacturers are demonstrating a remarkable ability to create goods and services that not only substitute imported ones but also surpass them in many respects. This isn't just substitution, it's a new understanding of the quality and style of Made in Russia.

The head of the Russian Export Center's Representative Office in Vladivostok highlighted the broad opportunities for certification of Russian products and services under the Made in Russia voluntary certification system. He explained that access to this certificate is now available to companies in a wide range of industries, from food and light industry to IT, folk arts and crafts, jewelry, and more.

Denis Drobot also discussed the collaboration of regional brands with the Made in Russia program. He discussed the benefits for certificate holders under and emphasized the need for Russian companies to continually improve and confirm the quality of their products and services to create a more robust offering in foreign markets.

"By creating a favorable investment and entrepreneurial environment, regions are laying the foundation for the emergence of new and the development of existing high-tech, unique industries. The products of these companies contribute to Made in Russia national brand, while maintaining their regional identity. Currently, there are 1,344 companies, with a product range of nearly 23,000 SKUs," Denis Drobot, Head of Russian Export Center's Representative Office in Vladivostok.

According to him, regions, by developing their local brands, can effectively encourage companies to streamline business processes and invest in development, which is critical in global competition. The goal of this approach is to improve product quality to maintain or gain competitive advantages in foreign markets, ensuring that the Russian mosaic looks respectable and competitive.

The session brought together representatives of the federal government, development institutions, and regional brands from across the country. Participants in the discussion included Raisa Drobyshevskaya (LAVA), Evgenia Pivkina (Ozaryay), Alexander Machevsky (VEB Group), Albert Razilov (MEST), Svetlana Ishkova (Loxia), and Gasan Gasanbalaev (Far East and Arctic Development Corporation).
