Iron Barber Pskov-based startup launches export under the Made in Russia umbrella brand

Iron Barber LLC from the Pskov region, perfume and cosmetics manufacturer, one of the dynamically developing Russian companies, received the Made in Russia certificate in the Reliability category from Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF Group). Company’s product range includes cosmetics for barbershops and beauty salons, animal care, cosmeceuticals, technical oils, antibacterial agents and products for clothing and footwear care.

Founded in 2018 by a team of three young entrepreneurs, the company has grown from a small to a high-tech enterprise. Today, Iron Barber boasts its own R&D lab, robotic lines, and engineering center, releasing over a hundred new products in two years. Its portfolio includes five private brands, as well as OEM manufacturing.

The Made in Russia certificate was awarded to four categories of professional products, including leave-in hair cream spray, keratolytic, keratolytic neutralizer, shampoo, foot balm, shower gel perfume and cosmetic talc powder. These products are in demand due to their effective and safe ingredients, which is highly valued in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia — the current export markets of the company. For example, in Belarus White Cosmetics professional cosmetics brand has achieved a high level of trust: ten brand ambassadors are actively working there, and two distributors sell products in Minsk.

What makes Iron Barber products so popular? These are proprietary formulas developed in the R&D laboratory using artificial intelligence, fully automated production and 100% localization of business. The company develops its own equipment for powder cosmetics, which allows it to be incredibly flexible and quickly adapt to market changes.

Iron Barber started its export activities in 2021 thanks to the systematic support from Russian Export Center and Export Support Center of the Pskov Region. As the company notes, it was their support that became a real mentor and guide in the world of foreign economic activity. Before cooperation with REC and the ESC, export seemed a complex and little-understood topic due to a lack of information about logistics and the specifics of interaction with foreign counterparties. Iron Barber, in particular, used the services on the My Export platform to search for foreign buyers and select foreign events (exhibitions and business missions).

Active participation in international exhibitions (InterCHARM, Central Asia Beauty Expo, Cosmoprof Asia), business missions (in particular, to Belarus in 2024), as well as the use of digital channels and training under the Exporters 2.0. program by REC Export School and Skolkovo School of Management have significantly improved company's export maturity.

"Fundamental changes in the approach to management occurred after my participation in the Exporters 2.0 program. This training gave a powerful impetus: we revised the scaling strategy, set priorities in international expansion and, most importantly, began to perceive our business not just as a local production, but as a potential global player. Today, Iron Barber is not just a manufacturer. It is a brand that, with ambition and faith in its business, wins the love of consumers throughout Russia and enters foreign markets with a worthy Russian product," Vladimir Kharitonov, Co-founder, Iron Barber LLC.

One of the striking examples of how the community and partnership can solve even critical problems was the situation at Central Asia Beauty Expo in Kazakhstan, when a parcel with product samples was lost en route. Then Kazakhstani partners, barbershop owners, came to the rescue and promptly brought the goods straight from their shelves.

Iron Barber is looking ambitiously to the future, planning to expand into the markets of Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Middle East and Asia. Despite the difficulties with logistics, customs costs and payment, interest in the products remains high, which motivates the company to adapt the assortment and build new partnerships.

The Made in Russia mark is an official quality mark confirming the high standards and level of products developed and manufactured in the Russian Federation.
