Five rapid diagnostic kits from Russian biotechnology company Rapid Bio, designed to detect HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, COVID-19, and influenza, have received "Reliability" certification under the "Made in Russia" national brand certification . These certificates were issued in late September and are valid until 2029. According to the Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF), the company is currently applying for "Made in Russia" certification for its other products.
From COVID-19 testing to 180 million testing systems annually.
Rapid Bio is registered in the Republic of Buryatia, with its research and development and production operations located at the Skolkovo Innovation Center. The company was founded in 2020, but its research team's history dates back to 2014, when they developed a diagnostic solution for assessing stroke risk.
In 2020, Rapid Bio developed and registered Russia's first rapid COVID-19 test product. In 2022, the company launched a robotic production line with a monthly capacity of 15 million test kits. Today, the company employs approximately 200 people, including more than 60 scientists and engineers. It currently has over 25 products on the market, with more than 90 under development. The company has five in-house R&D laboratories with an annual capacity of up to 180 million test kits, enabling it to cover the entire lifecycle from scientific conception and validation to registration, mass production, and market launch. The company's quality management system complies with ISO 13485 standards.
The development of the COVID-19 test was like something out of a movie script. The team agreed that if anyone got sick, they should self-isolate and continue working. Soon after, one developer did indeed fall ill, and after she recovered, researchers used her blood sample to develop an antibody test. Today, Rapid Bio's testing system is even being used in Antarctica.

Five in vitro diagnostic reagent kits have received "Made in Russia" certification:
· "RAPID-HIV-AG/AT-ICHA" is a rapid testing method that can simultaneously detect HIV-1 p24 antigen and HIV type 1 and type 2 antibodies;
· "RAPID-HIV/Syphilis-AT-IHA" is a combined detection method for HIV-1/2 (including group O) antibodies and syphilis pathogen antibodies;
· "RAPID-VGV-IHA" is a rapid detection method for detecting hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg);
· "RAPID-VGS-AT-IHA" is a rapid detection method for determining total antibodies against hepatitis C virus;
· "RAPID-COVID-19+Influenza A/B Antigen" is a combined test for detecting influenza A and B virus antigens as well as SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus antigen.
The company lists its portfolio solutions as one of the key features of its product line, which enable the detection of multiple diagnostic biomarkers in a single test.
Export, localization and science
exporting products to Thailand in 2022. In 2024, the company exported its products to Myanmar, and in 2026, it exported to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Rapid Bio's international strategy integrates finished product exports, localized manufacturing, and research collaborations. In Tanzania, a $2.5 million localization project for diagnostic kits is in its final stages. The company has also established a partnership with Muhibili University of Health and Joint Sciences (MUHAS) in Tanzania for joint research, laboratory facility construction, and professional training. In South Africa, the company is focusing on technology cooperation, including technology transfer and building localized manufacturing capacity. Its plans include expanding supply to CIS countries and entering the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia markets.
One of the main challenges the company faced when expanding into overseas markets was preparing the documentation required for registering its testing system, as requirements varied from country to country. To obtain free sale certificates, Rapid Bio used the My Export digital platform ( Gosuslugi VED) , which became the company's sole digital channel for acquiring these documents.
"We aspire to contribute to a cause greater than ourselves," noted Andrzej Zhimbiev, CEO of Rapid Bio LLC. "We hope to generate a positive social impact by collaborating with leading experts, renowned research institutions, public clinics, and private medical centers."
The company hopes that the "Made in Russia" label will become another selling point when negotiating with overseas distributors, medical institutions, and manufacturing partners, and will enhance the visibility of its testing systems at trade shows and business conferences. Expected outcomes include establishing new partnerships, expanding supply coverage, and increasing export sales.
