Russian Export Center (REC, VEB Group) organized a joint Made in Russia stand at GITEX Africa 2026, which took place in the Moroccan capital from April 7 to 9. This stand brought together 19 companies from Moscow, the Novosibirsk Region, St. Petersburg, and the Perm Krai.
The exhibition took place amid growing interest from African countries in Russian non-commodity, non-energy goods and technologies. Exports of Russian IT solutions are particularly dynamic, reaching nearly 95 billion rubles in the first half of last year, according to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. During the same period, projects by Russian IT companies in Africa, Latin America, and Asia countries exceeded the figures for the first half of 2024 by 5-10%.
As Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Russian Government Dmitry Grigorenko reported, Russian antivirus software and cybersecurity products are enjoying growing demand abroad, and domestic facial recognition systems are available in more than 30 countries. Exporters receive comprehensive support from Russian Export Center Group, represented by Russian Agency for Export Credit and Investment Insurance (EXIAR) and Eximbank of Russia, whose financial instruments are in demand when entering foreign markets, including Africa.
"REC’s stand at GITEX Africa will facilitate contacts and foster systematic collaboration between Russian companies and local businesses. This year, the exhibition will feature Russian companies in digitalization of medicine and transportation, developers of software and hardware solutions for telecom operators, and manufacturers of smart city products. These areas are of interest to Moroccan companies both in terms of end users and establishing joint ventures and partner promotions in the local market," Alexey Mudrakov, REC Director for Client Relations.
"GITEX Africa 2026 once again confirms that today's competition isn't just about individual products, but about entire technology ecosystems. Russia, with its strong expertise in cybersecurity and AI technology regulation, offers next-level solutions that are practical and deliver sustainable results," Alexey Andreev, Russia's Trade Representative in Morocco.
"IT export to Morocco today are not simply a market entry, but a competition of technology, speed, trust, and customer experience, where those who are able to act flexibly and build a long-term strategy win," Nikita Stegniy, Digital Attaché at the Russian Trade Mission to Morocco.
The joint stand presents developments in AI, UAVs, cybersecurity, and financial technology. Two exhibitors, SpetsPromDesign and Telecor have Made in Russia certificates. Event’s business program includes pitch sessions and B2B negotiations.
