REC expert spoke about the perception of the Made in Russia brand abroad

June 9, 2026
Trust is a key aspect of promoting Russian goods in foreign markets. This is a category of long-term positive perception that cannot be built through advertising and marketing efforts alone. This was stated by Alexander Molodtsov, Vice President of Russian Export Center (REC, VEB.RF Group), at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"Russian Export Center (REC) utilizes the comprehensive marketing tools of the Made in Russia program to promote Russian products abroad. However, to build a trusting infrastructure, it is essential to penetrate through culture and art, with close cooperation between the government and business," REC Vice President at the session named The Role of Companies in Promoting International Development.

To assess consumer attitudes in promising foreign markets, Russian Export Center conducted a study in four countries: China, Türkiye, the UAE, and Vietnam. The highest level of trust among both professionals and ordinary consumers is found in Vietnam. This is a historically established, stable pattern of perception of Russia across several generations, the expert explained.
A REC study showed that the Russian brand is perceived more positively in professional circles in four countries than among the general public. The program's next goal is not only to strengthen buyers' trust but also to translate awareness into regular retail purchases, including through the promotion of Russian cultural codes.

About the Made in Russia program
Russian Export Center has been promoting the unified Made in Russia national brand in the international market for almost 10 years. This initiative received the status of a comprehensive state program to support exporters in February 2025, when it was approved by the Russian government at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Made in Russia program is officially recognized as one of the key instruments for stimulating growth of Russian non-resource, non-energy exports. Its goal is to increase the recognition of domestic products in foreign markets. The program's symbol is a bird in the colors of the Russian flag.

Participation in the program is free. Export-oriented companies gain access to a wide range of support measures. Among other things, Made in Russia certificate holders have access to:

• support from REC experts throughout the entire export cycle: from finding a market niche to concluding a contract;
• placement of products in national pavilions;
• participation in foreign exhibitions and business missions;
• participation in festivals and fairs under the national brand;
• participation in cultural events organized by Russian Export Center (fashion shows, tastings and shows abroad);
• b2b meetings organized by REC.
• Discounts on cross-border payment services, bonuses and special conditions for settlement products from REC and EXIMBANK OF RUSSIA.
